  • Yes. For more than 20 years, Alderney Landing has been a hub for artistic, cultural and community engagement and an incubator for local businesses and entrepreneurs.

    As the community it serves grows and diversifies, Alderney Landing is ready to reimagine itself and expand its offering to better serve those who live on and visit “our side” of the Halifax Harbour.

    From the physical environment to the programs and services it provides, the Alderney Landing of the future aims to be a modern, welcoming and inclusive space responsive to the needs of its community and stakeholders.

  • The Alderney Landing Board of Directors consulted with a large number of stakeholders, including over 1,100 community members, and the results indicated a strong community desire for a more modern facility with expanded capabilities to serve the community.

  • Some of the priorities include:

    1. Expanding the Farmers Market and the ability for Alderney Landing to be an incubation space for local small business.

    2. Expanding Alderney Landing’s ability to showcase culture and diversity through performance and art.

    3. Expanding Alderney Landing’s capacity to host large-scale events with a specific focus on family and youth-friendly events.

    4. A vision to be the anchor of a larger Downtown Dartmouth Waterfront Improvement Plan."

  • Weekly community markets happen all year long in the Alderney Landing Marketplace, located on the ground floor of the facilities. A list of permanent market vendors can be found here.

    Alderney Landing hosts a wide variety of large-scale events in the outdoor events plaza, located in the parking area along the Dartmouth Waterfront. The Alderney Landing events calendar can be found here.

    The Alderney Landing Theatre is a professional, fully equipped 285-seat theatre, host to professional musical, dance and theatrical performances from our magnificent community and around the world. More information about the Alderney Landing Theatre can be found here.

    Alderney Landing hosts The Craig Gallery, a public art gallery programmed by a Volunteer Committee made up primarily of Dartmouth Professional Artists.
